Unclogging
Tioman Beach
Published
in Asian Diver (Dec/Jan 1999)
In conjunction
with Project AWARE's International Clean-up Day, Singapore's Big Bubble
Centre hit the beach at Pulau Tioman, Malaysia, to do their bit. Armed with black garbage
bags and gardening gloves, the divers managed to amass 18 huge bags of rubbish ranging
from foam boxes, drink cartons, plastic bags, to clothes hanger and even money. Trying to
clean the house reef was a little more challenging. The main problem encountered? Not much
rubbish! This was definitely a good sign that the reefs are not clogged with human trash
as the beach. The Project AWARE weekend was wrapped up with a lucky draw for all
participants. Gifts were sponsored by Singapore Zoological Gardnes, Allaround Sport
Trading, Sport Centre, A&J Travel and Tour, and Asian Diver Magazine. For more information, contact:
