The PADI Instructor Orientation Course (IOC) is a
special program designed to enable qualified instructors from other diver training
organizations to become PADI Instructors. The program recognizes the training and
experience instructors gain through their affiliation with another training organisation,
and enables them to qualify for PADI certification through a more flexible Instructor
Development Course (IDC) schedule.
In essence, the IOC candidate will follow the same IDC as scheduled
for PADI Divemasters/Assistant Instructors. However, it is up to the discretion of the IOC
candidate to determine whether he/she wishes to participate in all the scheduled candidate
teaching presentations sessions simply just limit them to the ones required by PADI course
standards.
It is highly recommended that you attend the whole program. There
is no additional charge for this, and the knowledge and insight gained is well worth the
extra time involved. IOC candidates must attend the PADI Instructor Examination to qualify
for PADI Instructor rating.
